1956 mercury

55 and 56 only 57 to 60 fit but are 14.merc only no fords fit.some other makes will fit I remember having a wheel from a buick on a 57.

I had a mint condition set of 4 '55 Merc wheels a couple years ago and scrapped them. No one wanted them. Theres way fewer Mercs left from that era than there are Fords. But Ford wheels will not fit on Merc. Merc had larger bolt pattern and larger center hole for larger axle. To my knowledge, only '55 and '56 Merc wheels can be used if you stick with 15 inch wheels

Craig, I think you're referring to the 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern, same as pre-'48 Fords and later 1/2 ton pickups. These wheels are an in-between size, 5 on 5", I think.

Yes, 40 Deluxe is right. The Merc you have has a 5 lug, 5" bolt circle.

Here are some FoMoCo cars with 5 lug 5" bolt circle, and Most have 15" wheels.
Ford: Custom 1973-1978, Galaxie, LTD 1973-1975, Thunderbird 1972-1976
Lincoln: All (except Versailles) 1960-1967/1973-1979
Mercury: All 1955-1960, Cougar 1973-1977, XR7 1973-1977

Also, Most older 2 wheel drive Chevy pickups had a 5" bolt circle with
the larger center hole, and the backspace should be close,
dependiing on the width of the wheel you use.

Good luck...:)

5 X 5" rims were on most (nonChev) GM cars during the 50s, 60s and 70s in both 14" and 15" diameters and several different widths.
