1956 mercury throw out bearing

Hey guys! I have a 1956 mercury medalist coup with the 312 that I'm doing a t5 swap in. I got everything in place and the throw out bearing started rubbing the clutch plate. So I took it all apart and bought and new bearing with the housing and I think it was for a ford not a mercury and wouldn't fit the clutch fork. So I bought just the bearing to press into the old housing and now somewhere along the long it got misplaced. The bear I took out looked like the older style one for maybe a flathead. But I don't know the difference between ford and mercury. Any suggestions on this? I'd love to get the old car up and back on the road.

I mocked mine up with no clutch to see if everything looked right. I used a mirror on a stem to look right in. The pilot bushing needed help, and the trans was 1/4 inch to long. Some throw out bearings will need a sleeve to properly fit the GM trans. For the pilot, I had a used Ford bushing bored to accept a turned down Chev bushing. The length was solved by grinding the input shorter with a 4 1/2 inch grinder. Check out Offenhouser part 5272_s for a throw out bushing.

Well I am using a world class t5 from a mustang so the stock one should work even if I have to clearance the housing just alittle but I don't know what the stock mercury one looks like
