1956 ford hinges

hi guys, another newbie here, i'm trying to fix the door hinges on my 56 Victoria. the rt. door is sagging and can be wiggled up and down. I got new hinge pins and bushings from Macs. I took apart both hinges and I don't think there are any old bushings to remove. my question is,where do the new bushings go, in the inner or outer hinge? the existing hinge pin shows all the wear is at the inner hinge, if that means anything. thanks in advance for any advice.

If I remember correctly I used a drill bit to the same size as the bushing and drilled out the hinge then push in the bushing so it is snug then install the new pins.

thanks for the reply, cb. the hinge pin has serrations under the head, wouldn't they dig into the bushings, if installed from the top?

The pin must rotate freely in the bushings, as the door opens and closes.
The bushings should go in the inner part of the hinge.
The lower bushing goes upward into the bottom hole
and the top bushing goes downward into the upper hole.

thanks for the replys. that's the way I was leaning but wasn't sure. the new bushing is shaped like a top hat so does the 'brim' get removed after installation, because the inner and outer hinges go together with very little clearance. thanks again

NO, do not remove the top hat brim, as you call it, that is there
to keep the hinge from having metal to metal contact.

If you would like, I have a nice set of hinges I'll mail you. I use the hinges off a 4 dr front door as the front doors are alot shorter so the hinges almost do not wear. I'll send you a set for postage only. Randy

thanks for the info lanny, now I can go for it. randy, if I screw this up, i'll probably take you up on your offer. thanks guys
