I am going to purchase a repo '56 shop manual. Does it include wiring diagrams in it, or do I have to purchase the wiring diagram book also if I want electrical diagrams? Thanks in advance! - F F

If its the specific Ford Car Shop Manual then you will also need to purchase wiring diagram book also.
I have the 1955 Ford Electrical Assembly Manual by Jim Osborn Reproductions.
This is a good one.

It depends on how much info you want and how it's presented.

I have both a '55 & '57 Ford Shop Manual, but not a '56. In each electrical item section there are good detail wiring diagrams relevant just to the items in that section.
I'll assume the '56 Shop Manual is the same.

If you want larger diagrams with more of an overall view, a '56 Electrical Assembly Manual would be the way to go.

Buy a laminated color code wiring diagram for the year of your car from ClassicCarWiring, com. You won't regret it. It was a valuable tool when I was sorting out the wiring on my 56.

Yes, I think I will, as I am having a %$#! of a time sorting out the wiring on this Fairlane. Thanks dodge!

I have a 56 Service Manual and I was disappointed that the electrical system was broken into sections.
I bought the Classic Car Wiring colored and laminated diagram and I have never regretted it.

Yeah, I am disappointed w/ my new shop manual also.

This was common in Fords maintenance publications. They did make separate electrical system publications but that was always a PITA. They did this for decades.
