I have a 56 T-Bird with a 312 Y block engine. On cold starts it spews a considerable amount of black smoke (enough to make a mess of my garage floor) On another forum it was suggested the heat riser is probably the culprit so I plan to replace it with a spacer which is readily available online. Here is my problem: it makes sense to me that there would be a gasket on each side of the spacer. I have also been advised the two gaskets are different but I have only been able to find one gasket. Can anyone shed any light on identifying the two gaskets? ie; part numbers etc? I am in Florida for another 3 weeks and want to get the parts to take home to Canada at the end of this month. Since the car is 2300 miles away I can't take it apart to see what I need. Thanks for any forthcoming info. By the way, I am new to the forum and this is my first post and in searching the forum for an answer to my question I saw a lot of good info indicating a high degree of knowledge and was also impressed by the lack of uncivilized responses which tend to be the norm on some forums.
