I believe that your 55 Ford Fairlane has a Customline Trunk Lid fitted. The reason why I say this is because the Ford Badge is too large for the Fairlane Trunk Lid, and there is no full width Diecast Trim along the bottom edge? I could be wrong, as we never got the Fairlane version in Australia, only the Customline was offered.

I believe that this is what the Trunk Lit Trim should look like on your car. I got this Photo off the Internet. Notice that the Ford Badge as fitted to the Fairlanes are much smaller than the Badges fitted to the Customline. Also note the full with Diecast Trim fitted to the lower edge of the Trunk Lid. I hope that this helps.

What should the hood emblem look like. It is the same as the trunk except the key portion not there. Also, the hood emblem is angled in the center of the plastic insert vertically down the center of the emblem.

Mercman, that's what I think also. Like I said, mine is one piece with the key and emblem all in one. (Which is for a Mainline I think). Don't think you can find those anywhere. I would get it rechromed but costs way to much here in this area. Maybe if I can find new emblems like your photo I could go to that. I would have to get a new key bezel also. Should the hood emblem look like the trunk photo you posted.

The Fairlane bezels are all duplicated. That trunk lock mechanism you have is Customline and Mainline and is not reproduced. If it is in good nick, you could possibly get as much for it as the bits you are replacing cost. I bought a NOS Customline trunk lock years ago for over $200. Not cheap but where else do you find one.

It's also missing the small script on the top of the quarter panels towards the rear that says "Town Sedan". The two door was a "Club Sedan".
