1955 Fairlane dash knobs

We are in the process of purchasing a 55 Fairlane. I noticed that the windshield wiper knob is missing. I have been looking everywhere for a replacement, but have been told over and over that no one makes replacement knobs for that year and that the dash knobs made for newer models (56,58,59) that are available will not fit.

Any suggestions?
