it has been stored since 1980.very staight body only rust in pass. cab corner.ran when parked.auto trans.looking for ball park value

It 's been sitting for 30 years. Figure the cost of going through each part of the drivetrain. All of it is going to need serious attention. Engines lockup, transmission parts corrode and lock together, Then there's the body. The parts everyone can see. Figure at least twice as much time and twice as much money to get it right. Title? It all adds up or subtracts from it's value whether buying or selling.

lookin to buy.just trying to come up with a friendly price for both buyer and seller.
good title . been in the family since new.i know that it will take alot of mechanical work before it goes down the road again.

What are your plans for it if you do get? Restore it or rod it? Drivetrain retained or replaced. If it's to be replaced, all you're really interested in is the body and frame. Condition of the drivetrain becomes irrelevant. Bonus if it works because then it's trading stock to offset the cost of whatever goes back in.

I use auction sites ( not BJ, Russo & Steele) as reference, the online ones. Find one or several similar in condition to the one you're looking at as a guide for pricing.

Good points Dave. Just to add to using the online sites - check the selling prices, and NOT the asking price. It should give a fairly good idea of current worth.

around $2500, remember you are going to have to replace or rebuild a lot of parts, carb, wheel and master cylinders, brake lines, fuel lines, all water hoses, heater and radiator, replace fuel pump, and maybe the radiator, water pump, clean fuel tank, you should drop the pan and check for rust caused by condensation, drain trans and rear end, you may have to replace all wiring, maybe wheel bearings, trans bearings rear end and rear wheel bearings at tleast the grease seals, and 4 new tires, it takes about $1000 to bring back to life a vehicle that has been setting that long, and that doesnt include any upholstery or paint, or window channels, believe me you can never buy one cheap enough, you have to look at it as if your just buying a body and frame

ford1, thanks. thats about the same thinking as i have come up with.hopefully the owner will see it that way also.

I think the mid 2 grand range is fair territory, I paid $2800 for my 54 a couple years ago and it had been sitting for ten years.

Heres another thought if you know the owner good enough you could ask what they think is a fair price and if they give you a number you'll get an idea of what your starting point could be.
