Here is the original Bill of Sale and three pictures of how the cab & chassis was used. I ran across these pictures in my Dad's old stuff. The driver was about 18 YO in the one picture and just recently passed away.

Interesting history. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like there was some mistake, final cost was more than he brought to the dealership, had to come back the next day with $91.25 for the difference. And all paid in cash!

Love the truck and the details too!

Notice how he was just 85 cents short of the cost of the truck? If it weren't for the sales tax and title cost, maybe the dealer would have let the 85 cents slide? What great history.

Must have been a proud day to take delivery of such a smart looking truck.

That is a great looking truck. I remember a similar truck a friend of mine drove for his dad who owned a Texaco station in the early 60's. Randy was a teenager as well, still in high school. I was amazed that his dad had him driving that truck at 16-17. He delivered heating oil to our house, maybe gasoline too, but not sure.

The truck was brand new in 1952 and is shown with a white grille in the lower picture. It is sitting in the driveway of our new home which we moved into in 1952. The picture with the driver, Jack Williams, must have been about 1957, the year he graduated from Everett High School, maybe 1958. Notice the additional lettering added to the doors in the later pictures. Shell would paint the trucks every few years (on their nickel) and sometime in the early 60's they all went to yellow and white. So there was a repaint sometime between 52 and 58 to paint over the grille. I believe that truck was never yellow and white, my Dad said the tank was not big enough and they sold it and went to GMC's with 1500 gallon tanks. I remember driving the new 1967 GMC Diesel Cabover that had a 2,000 gallon tank. I only got that truck stuck once! Too heavy for my girlfriend's driveway!
