1952 8rt

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a 1952 8rt from a guy and was wondering if it would bolt up to my 1946 sedan delivery. From what I understand, it has a bolt on bell housing instead of one cast into the block. Does this difference make an issue for interchangeability?

thank, Erik

yes--the later motor should bolt up to the transmission but its alot easier to pull the transmission then put them in as one unit...please search our archives the should be alot of info...one concern is your front motor mounts and fan spacing next to the radiator

Thanks Gumpy...isn't there a swap meet this weekend? If so, I'm gonna miss it....the in laws are coming in town for a visit. Next time.

I'll run through the archives. Sometimes it's tough to phrase the questions correctly to get appropriate answers.

thanks, Erik

Make sure you also get the matching 8RT starter plate with the bellhousing.

This is a simple swap with all ford parts, but gathering them all together might get complicated. A set of 49 51 PU water pumps will drop that engine right on the stock 46. a PU or Merc Bell housing will bolt to your trans. This is the main items. you'll have to figger out the rest.
