We stopped at the Charlotte Car Show early Thursday morning. This caught my eye in the flea market area. We had one very similar to this at the service station I worked at as a kid. I asked the vendor if it worked and he replied he didn’t know. A sure sign that it didn’t...

I opened it up when I got home and to my surprise it has a Model T coil and a transformer. I had no idea this was inside. A very simple set up.

The coil was dated Jan 1950.

I took a piece of sandpaper and brightened the points. Hey it works!

I am pleased with my $35 purchase. I’ll put it with the rest of my plunder.

Pretty neat tool as well. Great idea testing the spark plug under compression load. Usually used on a stand with a cleaner as well. We still use the cleaner and a tester at the Newport Antique car hill climb each year.

What a cute little tool ! I have something similar, with different fittings, for different size spark-plugs. I'll show you, sometime.
Thanks,
MIKE :)
