I see on my dash that I have a left and right arrows for turn signals. My question is since I don't have a lever for signals how easy is it to hook up a after market turn signal switch

You can use an aftermarket turn signal setup but here pictured is an SXTS-B Fomoco signal switch that clamped on the column as accessory turn signals for the 1949 and 1950 Fords. The 51 finally went to the integral mount.

Mayby this time.

It's not hard at all. If you have the Ford Shop manual, I had it done in one evening and three cups of coffee .

There is an aftermarket unit on E-Bay right now. Looks like what you are looking for. Go to E-bay and search 50 ford turn signals.

If you want the in-dash signal lites to work you will need the little sockets and bulbs. They are the same as ones in the back of the speedometer unit. Splice them straight into the wires going to the front or rear signal lites (after you install the above signal lite system). Most likely will need to swap out the front single filament lite socket for dual socket. Not that hard, really.

You will need the two wire front parking light socket and wiring. Part number 8A or 0A 13234 - B (two wire lead and socket) They still are available out there.

Check your dash. Surprisingly my 1949 Fordor had the lamps and sockets behind the gauge panel, so it was that much eaiser adding turn signals.

George49Ford, you do not want to splice the indicator lights into the rear signal lights. They will then come on with the brake lights. Indicators are always spliced into the front turn signal wires.

Does anyone know the wiring diagram how to install the turn signal switch or to find the wires is for a 50 ford coupe??
