Rebuilding a 1950 ford shoebox with a vin # but no cwol tag. The car has the stock body color (palisade gree) stock seats, no motor (V8) but has # spd overdrive transmission and would like to know how to find out the cowl information ? any help would be nice thank you.

See attached. Not the greatest clarity. Email me at tpeterik1@wi.rr.com if you would like a better document.

SP= Saint Paul

8= Palisade Green
42= Deluxe Broadcloth
13= day of the month assembled
B= February

Every plant had their own way of stamping the codes on the cowl. Some in a straight line, some like mine.

is there any way to find out production date without cowl plate/trim tag

No, but certain features (if original) can indicate whether you have early or late (after May, 1950) model. For example, certain colors were discontinued in May 1950. You really should have a copy of EFV8CA 49-50-51 Restorers Guide for best info available. There is also an engine date code stamped into the block. Again, you would have to know block is original for this to tell you anything. Same for date codes on window glass, etc. Again, all this stuff is in book mentioned above.
