Just getting back to my 49. The hinging mechanism is suspect so it has been changed. The big broken gobs of weld on the hinges were quite unsatisfactory so they got replaced. My question is: there is a bolt at the top of the pieces over the door. Not really sure how that is supposed to work. I would like to take the sag out and have it be straight over the window. Can something help me figure it out?

A pic would be helpful.

You replaced the door hinges?
The door(s) sag? They are heavy.
Did you adjust the door striker on jamb?
..."there is a bolt at the top of the pieces over the door? " What are the pieces?

I've had good results from replacing the body mounts.
- there is a mount visible under the hood, where a brace from the cowl bolts to the
frame. That body mount is about 7/8" thick. There are two others, one is accesible
from the floor pan. There is a plug on the floor, look down and see a 9/16" hex head
for a 3/8" NC bolt. There is a body mount there. The next one to replace is
along the frame under the door.
There are rubber body mounts, and shims. I replaced the mounts and used various
thickness of shims to adjust the door gaps, and take care of the sagging as well.
That body mount for the cowl is easy to access and can make a big difference.
