1949 Ford rear window wiper kit

I saw this at a swap meet Sunday. Ford accessory rear wiper kit #8A-18387-A. Never heard of this, but I'm not a shoebox guy. Anyone ever seen or have one of these?

Do you have a photo? My experience with three shoeboxes (all coupes) doesn't include a rear window wiper. Perhaps a station wagon? Chris at Shoebox Central may have the answer.

I looked in my 1949-51 parts book and it's in there. Shows it for 49-50 but not 51.

Here's some more info from e-bay. A dealer accessory sheet.

I have an NOS one in the original box that I would love to use. Unfortunately, I have not been able bring myself to drill the required hole in the trunk surround that is required. Also, think about routing the vacuum back to the unit to make it operate. I love mine, but believe it's probably better in the original box on a shelf.

Wow!! I really feel stupid now...........good to learn new things though.

They were available for Mercury cars as well.

I had a NOS one and sold it to my good friend, he installed it on his nice 49 Fordor. It is always a great conversation piece at car shows.

A rare (or maybe unpopular) accesory for sure. Thanks guys.
