What is the depth of the 1949-1953 Merc rear sump oil pan vs the 1949-1953 Ford center sump oil pan?

I have a 8BA installed in a 1932 Ford with the Ford center sump pan and was wondering if I would gain additional ground clearance by changing to the Merc oil pan.

Overall the pan depths will be the same. There is an advantage to suing the rear sump Merc pan if it has the three 3/8 size studs along the bottom. The studs can be used to hold a skid plate to protect the bottom of the pan if the ground clearance becomes a problem.

Just FYI, the 49-51 Mercury pan is the rear sump one you are thinking of.
In 1952 and 1953 both Ford and Mercury used the same center sump oil pan. It is slightly different than the 49-51 Ford oil pan.
