1948 window anti-rattle felt

Hi,
I installed new door glasses and new anti-rattle strips on my 1948 two door.
When I install the panel with the vent glass and new anti-rattle strips it seems to pinch the window and makes it very hard to roll up and down. I installed the strips even with the top of the panels and door. I think I should have installed them with the chrome strip above the edge of the door and panel. If someone can confirm that or tell me what I'm doing wrong it will keep me from pulled the rest of my hair out. Thanks!

I installed the anti-rattle strips with the chrome strip above the door panel and top edge of the door on our '41 fordor. It's been almost 30 yrs but I believe you can adj. the front track channel a bit

Looked at my 46 Fordor this morning which appears to have original weatherstripping. It is all over the place on the felts. Far from uniform. When I did my 1942 Deluxe coupe I was able to adjust the track and window regulator enough to get the window to roll up and down reasonably. Guessing you have a Vintique kit....

I am using a Vintique kit. I tried adjusting the track but doesn't help much. I had a hard time getting the vent window panels in at the bottom and the screw holes didn't line up well. I'm using the original panels and doors on the car. Very puzzling.

On the 42 I bought my glass from Sanders. The glass was about 3/16" too wide(lengthwise). Would not move up or down even with the vent window assembly out.
Ended up taking it to an old school glass shop and having it sanded down on one side.
Then it would go up and down. Does this sound like possibly your situation?

I did buy my glass from Sanders and it was too tall. I did the same as you and took it to a local glass shop and they trimmed it to the right size. I can adjust mine to roll up and down fine until I put the vent glass assembly in and then it binds the glass so that it won't move.

I ordered 1/4" thick glass for the doors and quarter windows. Is it possible that I need 3/16" thick glass? Did Ford use 3/16" glass? Screw holes for the vent window panel seem to be off about a 1/16 of an inch. Also, I had a hard time getting the bottom track on the door and quarter glasses. Seemed to be too thick.

I think I measured my old glass on the 42 coupe and it was .261 thick. Sanders was like .269, so very close. I was actually afraid their glass would be thinner, but it wasn't. On my 48 coupe when I bought it the vent windows were guardian glass and probably the 3/16". I replaced them with 2 NOS ford ones that were thicker. If you can post some pictures it may help.

Thanks...maybe these pictures will help
