1948 scuff plates

I have a 1948 two door sedan. The scuff plates that hold the carpet and mat down were missing so I ordered new ones. Does the enclosed end go toward the front or the back of the interior?

On my 48 I put open to rear. The detail of floor will only allow them to go one way, there is a right & a left. Mine were originals so already formed to fit.

Dennis Carpenter and C&G have them. You might want the lower one too that retains the rubber seal that runs along door threshold, it works in conjunction with the top one. Go to C & G Ford and type in "sill plates" in search.. not sure what body style you need. They have them all.
