I'm installing tube type shocks on the rear of my 48 Ford. I have the lower brackets. I noticed there is a hole in cross member in about the right place. Has anyone made a upper mount to bolt into this hole?? Thanks

Well this probably won't help but?

I bought an eliptical leaf spring kit for my 46 Merc from TCI.

The instructions give a distance for mounting the top shock bracket from the frame so that the hole in the bracket is where the bolt goes that holds the shock.
I'm in the UK till 4th April so can't access the instructions for the measurement, maybe you can access the dimension from the TCI sight?
May not work at all with the transverse spring though,

If all you need is that stud mount, you can buy it off the shelf at your local NAPA, Advance. or Autozone and probably others. Marv

I did the same thing last year, i could not find where to get the oem style of bolt. I made a bracket from 2" channel iron, mounted one of those shock mount bolts you can get at most auto stores, lined this up over the stock hole and welded the channel to the frame worked out very nice. The channel iron was about 2.5" long mounted at 90* to the frame flange. did the front as well Laurie

rich b,
Thats look like what I need. I porbably could get a local machine shop to make a couple. Thanks for picture
