1948 drive shaft coupling

I dissasembled my spare '48 rear axle assembly but need to know the best way to remove the driveshaft coupling rivets. There are two pins, or rivets as the Green Book calls them.
Thank you,

I took apart a '48 rear and getting those rivets out was the most terrible task. I ground off the heads, tried pin punching them out, resorted to drilling them out (undersize drill) and then finally punching out the remainder.

I guess I was luckier than I thought I was having had both pins long gone in both drive shafts I have removed.
