1947 COE Wireing Diagram

Is there anything in the green book? I assume it would be very similar to a pickup truck. Perhaps Tyree Harriss may be able to provide you with a diagram also.

The 46-47 Truck diagram in the green book seems to be the only choice. It will tell you all the connections to make but not the routing.

I totally rewired my 47 COE some years back and may be able to answer specific questions.

47COE I like your truck, you don't often see big mothers like these out there, at least down here in NZ where I'm sure there would have been plenty once.

GB,

Thanks. You can possibly blame WW2 for the dearth of old trucks. Saw this one in the National Army Museum in Waiouru. It seems when New Zealand entered the war they had no military trucks, so they requisitioned farm trucks such as this one.

I've seen lots of old Bedford trucks in my visits to New Zealand. They seem to have been far more popular. Or perhaps the army didn't want Bedfords.

Tom.

Yes there were lot of British "Bedsteds", they were a UK GM product but I do remember seeing big v8s as a kid. I know they were popular in forestry here and my dad drove them doing siesmic work when he worked for the Govenment Geophysical Survey Dept in the 50's. Thanks for posting the truck at Waiouru.

Todd,

The horn is mounted to the right side frame, sitting approximately under the floor on the passenger side. Somewhat forward of the starter solenoid.

Vintage Wiring of Maine sells the 41-47 Ford COE wiring harness - they may have a wiring diagram to help you out:

http://vintagewiring.com/Vintage_Trucks.html

I've rewired my truck but it's not a stock rewire as someone in the past converted it to 12V and I just kept it and built my own circuit/fuse panel instead of re-installing the original circuit breaker. I do not have a COE-specific wiring diagram.

If you find one, please post for the rest of us. I could use one when I switch back to stock.
