I need some ideas.. I am in the process of rebuilding my front end. New springs, shackle bolts, king pins, and tie rod ends. The problem is the drag link, I have looked @ Mac's, Early Ford, Obsolete Ford, and have done numberous searches on the Barn for a new one, No luck. The machined end ball is wore out. I know I can replace the pitman arm connection. Can someone give me some Ideas of what they have done or a place to buy one. Thanks for any help...

on my 46, I just bought a new old stock drag link off e-bay from a place called Jones , can't remember the exact info , but will let you know , mine is a cross steer from pitman arm to right spindle, I bought it as a spare to replace the one on it from the brazil parts days, I also couldn't find one back in 74, so the man at the parts counter sold me one he said from a 37 ford, it has a little different shape to it but it worked, my truck was stolen and stripped shortly after and has been in the garage every since it was recovered, I will try to get the invoice from the people , I actually bought it to fit a 41 I have but it won't work on it ' I'm not sure but there must be two different ones to fit the 41, the one on the 41 is almost straight, and the 46 has somewhat of a curve in it.
I wiil p.m you my contact info. so we can try to get you fixed up .

Try Antique Auto parts,in Arlington Texas. Call 817-275-2381 ask for Stacey Brown. He did have some a few years back I got one for my 46 pick-up there

The info on the vender was :jones vintage auto parts, also if you don't find what you are needing , get with a retailer who has an account with rare parts. they should be able to get what you need ,if rare don't have it they can make it for you, www.rareparts.com I have used them with good results.
good luck,

A good street rod shop can make you one. They use the standard tie rod ends and use heavy wall tubing. They can make you any length you want. Had this done many times.

The machined ball is available. Has a knurled diameter. I cut the old one off, Miked the diameter, drilled the rest out, pressed in the new one and peened the bottom. No problems, did that on a 48 F1 The steering arm is different on a 46/47 but the same principle. Good luck Ken

I agree with TJ, I intend to use "Balistic fabrication" for my heavy truck parts: (1.5 ton) and a few custom pieces.
