1946 ford v8 help

It's a can of worms when you separate the inner & outer caps. The wires just plug into the inner cap similar to modern terminals but they don't have little boots. You will need either the 1946 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Service Manual. or possibly an early addition Motors Manual the covers the 35 thru 53 models. The FoMoCo manual has just enough illustrations to get you there. I think the #1 terminal is even with one of the inner cap bails then it rotates counterclockwise with the firing order as you look at the terminal connection on the outer side of the inner cap. Firing order is 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2

Here you go Tony.

Well i just pulled the distributor and cleaned the points up and put it back and had power on coil with both wires connected for a few minutes and then lost power to coil and back of ignition was getting pretty warm. I think there is a resistor some where i wonder if that could be causing a problem.

A hint, if you select the "QUOTE" button (lower left corner) of the post you are responding to it makes it easier to keep everything straight. Cool car and welcome to the Barn!
