Are the 40, 41, 42, and 46 chassis all the same. The front of the truck was different, but what I'm wondering is, will 1940 fenders, grill and hood fit on a 1946 chassis? Any help from the vast and unpaid research department is appreciated.
They got way different in '42. Chassis 2 1/2" wider, WB went from 112" to 114", change to open driveline etc etc. Here's a link to a thread on this topic from just a few days ago. I'm sure clicking the search box will bring up even more. And welcome to the fordbarn!
Hello Ken. If we're talking 1/2 ton pickups the 40 and 41 frames are the same or at least similar depending on the front crossmember. The 42 and 46 frames are the same or similar but different to the 40/41 frames.
Can't answer about the swappability of parts.
The 41 pickup started out pretty much the same as the 40 but changed early in the year for the crossmember change that would fit the G-series inline 6. The 42 model year was all new for pickups. When the pickup line started back up in 45, they started up pretty much where they left off. There weren't a lot of changes through the end of 1947 when the new 1948 F1 with the first 8BA came on line.
