1946-1948 ford convertible top piston covers

There are no piston (cylinder) covers, but the long counter balance springs do have a fabric cover.

Interesting... What do these spring covers look like? Are they a 'make-it-yourself' item? (Missing on my 47 - I never knew.)

If you look in another post I have, there are pics of the parts I'm selling. What is the technical name for these side covers?

The springs look like a large screen door type. They hook between a hole in the top mechanism and an anchor on the floor board below. I found mine at Baxter Ford Parts in Lawrence KS. I'm not sure why the covers are used, but the springs provide a necessary counterbalance to help raise the top. The 44-52 Ford parts book shows them on page 304 as part no. 51A-7150420.

There are piston covers located at the bottom of the piston which attach to the seat riser. Are these what you mean?
