LOST MY PUSH ROD :eek::eek: Idon,t know where the heck it is !Its for the 239 100 hp merc motor 29A heads it must be longer or different than a regular push rod ,,,we tried one from a 41, 85 hp .doesn,t move up an down like it should ,,,,put a long match stick down in it an it moves up an down no problem ,,,YA I KNOW ,,,MY RODS TOOOO SHORT ! 8 7/8 inches long X 3/8 MINUS IN DIAMETER /WITH THE HAT AT 2 3/16 FROM THE END ,DOES NOTHING !,so i,m thinkin it has to be longer some where..any help in finding one out there thanks mp

Cast iron intakes use one 8 7/8 long / alum ones use one 7 7/8 long. There are NO inbetween sizes.Only the 49 and up used a longer and fatter rod.Are you sure you dont have it up side down?? ken ct. I have all 3 sizes and a few 60 hp rods but are way smaller.

i just looked down the hole with a flashlight. there is a slight lip about 1/2" (guessing) from the top of the cam. this lip is keeping the pushrod from touching the cam. what do you think this "lip" is? its only on one side and is about 1/4" of the hole. the lip is just big enough to keep the pushrod from reaching the cam. i tried to lightly tap the pushrod down with no luck. i could bevel slightly the bottom of the pushrod but i'm not sure if that is the right thing to do. does not make sense that there is a lip. cp.
