1941 Fuel Pump Rod - How to?

Len you may want to try taking a screw driver and lightly hammer and tap around under the lip of baffle. It does come out but it can really be in there tight. Try to find a replacement like I did in case you should bend it. Mine was out of round to begin with.
 
Try spraying carb cleaner, this might brake down the gunk. It will evaporate and and not effect the engine. Good luck
