1941 Ford COE Electric Wiper Conversion

Looking to install electric wipers on a 1941 Ford Cab Over (COE) truck with the tip out windshield. I don't have any of the old mechanism to use. Would appreciate any advise on parts or vendors used to make such an installation. Thanks for your reply.

a friend put electric wiper motors from a boating catalog on his 38 (same cab as your) Of course he used 12 volt system

I now use a 6 bolt wiper motor from Bob Drake in my 47 COE. There is plenty of room to adapt the mounting. Before this, I used essentially the same thing purchased from JC Whitney in the 70s until it wore out a few years ago.

But recently someone here mentioned Mighty Wiper

While it's more expensive, it looks like a better choice. I plan to give it a try in my 41 COE.

I've still got vacuum wipers in my COE (47). I haven't tried converting it but there should be plenty of room.

Even though COEs had 2 wipers, each wiper had a separate wiper motor and operated independently. There is no mechanism that connects the 2 wiper arms to one motor and switch. Hence the extra holes on the overhead panel on both sides. (There are two holes on each side. One hole is for the push-pull on-off switch and the other hole is for a knob that you turn to adjust wiper speed.)

This makes a real easy conversion to electric. Just install 2 independent electric wiper assemblies and wire to one switch. Hope it helps - have fun.
