I have an original in the factorl envelope Speedometer cable part number 11A 17262 A length is 69 inches, upper left corner lists the fact it fits 1941 Mercury 1841 Ford and 1942 Ford & Mercury ====== was this a Pre WWII item or did the yet to be produced 1946-48's use the same cable? Thanks! Bob

Over the years the housing and or the core may have been changed to something differant. As long as your core engages into the turtle at the bottom and also engages and isn't to long or to short at the top, it's good.

I had problems getting the ferule to engage with the speedo head on my 48 (41 style speedo for NZ made 46/48 Fords). This was supposed to be an original type cable. The thread wouldn't pick up. I eventually got one that was a repop with the black outer cable from C&G and that worked, it had a shorter ferule. I have a box of 41 speedo head and I found the original cable fitted some and not the others. " Old man Ford" used different suppliers to manufacture these things.
