I have a question on how to adjust pinion backlash between the ring gear and pinion... do you INCREASE or DECREASE the driver side or passenger side gaskets to move the ring gear closer to pinion to reduce the amount backlash in the gears? I have read conflicting methods, some say driver and some say passenger side. The reason for asking is because i have too much play, .017 lash while checking using a dial indicator. Thank you for any help.

Take it out of drivers side and add it to pass side. There is a formula for what thickness gasket will change lash x amount. Don't have it at home it is at my shop.

Spec is .003 to .008. Closer to .003 with new gears and .008 with used gears.

Remember that If you already established differential bearing preload you will need to move gaskets from the driver's side to the passenger side to maintain the same preload.
