I a putting up my 1940 Mercury Coupe Dirt track car from the 1950's I bought it with intentions of turning it into a custom. Everyone that see's it says it should stay as a Dirt tracker instead of trying to turn it into a custom. So I'd like to offer the car to someone who may appreciate it for what it is.
Its a 1940 Mercury Coupe that was owned by CJ Miller who raced the car at Sanatoga Raceway right outside of Pottstown, Pa. It was a 1/4 mile circle track. Car is registered with the East Coast Racing Museum in Latimore, Pa. Car number 29
Car is not cut up, doors open and shut, trunk is functional as well. Old primitive roll cage, homemade floor with old Mustang Bucket seats. rocker panels have been cut under the doors.
Drivetrain is a 1953 Truck Flathead hooked to a 39 Ford Trans. Two barrel intake with new Holley 2110 carb. Engine was rebuilt last year with about 500 miles on the car if that. Juice brakes with stock Mercury rear with 4.11 gears. Has a temp gauge for each head that never get above 180 degress. Does not overheat with the aid of the F100 truck radiator that has been record
Dash is in the car but empty of stock gaugesm there is an old J-hook under the dash to keep the car in 2nd gear while racing.
Right now is has old Ford truck wheels with Radial tires but I do have a set of cutom 15 x 7 inch Wide 5 wheels.
The car is a sound runner, starts right up and drives great. The body is what it is but not too far gone to do something with. No front end sheetmetal except for a cut up hood. Rear fenders have been bobbed.
Homemade trunk floor with old 10 gallon fuel cell. Homemade trunk latch.
Car was recently painted flat black with latex paint so I have been pulling that off to reveal older paint underneath with some numbers(29).
I have driven this car a lot and it is fun to drive and gets a lot of attention. I appreciate it for what it is but I have the itch to change it.
I am asking $6k Obo will entertain interesting trades but would prefer money as I have 2 other projects I would like to finish - Fryguy
