very true. glass placement in the track is critical to this function. i replaced the glass in my rear 39 tudor and had it working fine. proceeded to crack new glass installing window garnish. back to glass shop. with new glass installed could not get window to go up all the way was trying to move foward before it should. i finally had to alter the mech. to make it work. had that piece in and out a dozen times and it was a real pita.
