I have been on the hunt for a driver-side rear door latch spring for my 1940 Deluxe Station wagon. I would be willing to purchase a whole latch if you have one available.
I thought I sent you a message but maybe I am not doing it correctly. I have been some what distracted since I sent the May message and just saw your response.
Unfortunately the spring I received was not compatible. It seems what I am looking for is not easy to find. It may be a 1 year item, no one I have spoke with is sure.
I can send it back to you in case it comes in handy for you.
Regards,
Jock
It would help if you can post or email photos and dimension. Here on Fordbarn.com send Chuck Kuntz a PM and ask him, also Ray Helger at 401-635-4849 or ray@raysantiquesandparts.com Have you checked with Roy Nacewicz?
Ray has my old spring and says he has been unable to find one.
I also spoke with Roy Nacewicz and he has nothing that matches up.
I thought I posted images a while back but I am thumbs when it comes to managing this site.
I can try again......
You need to find an auto parts house that has been around for a while. When I broke a spring in my '46 Woodie door, I searched all over with no luck. On a lark I stopped off at Job Lot (now out of business) and they had an old box with dozens of springs in little compartments. When you opened the box, the top had all the car's listed for which spring in each compartment was for. Charged me one buck a spring and so I purchased six. The one I sent you looked very much like your picture!
I have two boxes of these springs ,they are all colour coded ,is your coloured ,if you had the old one I could match it or even a tracing might work.. Should I have one ,you cover the ride, that would be all that's needed. John.
