1940 ford radio

I'd get a non-working vintage radio and get the old knobs hooked up to an AMFM radio that is only the size of a paperback book. Here is the one for my 36:

They can also replace the inside of a radio with the AMFM. I did this for my 63 corvette.

Save your search on ebay so as soon as someone lists one you'll get an email that they have. I've got a lot of rare stuff that way. Sometimes waited a long time but eventually got it.

I put a newly professionaly rebuilt Zenith in a friends '40 woodie. There is so much static from all the power lines, it is hardly worth it. Like the man said, put a modern radio in. That is, unless you live near Tunk Lake in Maine and just want to hear WBZ out of Boston.

When I bought my 40 in April the guy gave me a box full of stuff but I never opened it right away. When I finally did open it.......there were two radios in it. They weigh a ton each ! I could send you photos as they are just sitting on the bench in barn.

Here is my two cents on any flathead Ford original radio. These radios have parts in them that go bad every 5 to 7 years no matter if you play them or not. The cost to replace all of these parts and do a good job is around $750. Not worth it to me. I have 5 1940 Fords and none of them have radios for this very reason. There is no such thing as a good NOS or older used '40 radio. The life span, and performance of these radios is not worth the cost.

Check around the Swap Meet here. ive found alot of people selling old ford radios. I dont remember particularly any 40 radios, but ill have look around. ill tell ya if i find any
