1940 Ford Garnish molding

How do you remove the door garnish molding on a 1940 Ford coupe? Do you have to remove the vent window first?
 
The vent window is part of the garnish molding. Take the screws out, pop the top part of the molding out of the door frame than lift the garnish molding out.

When I took mine all apart it was very difficult to get the frame out. Being my first hot rod I was in the same boat thinking I missed something and scratching my head. I still don’t know what held it up from coming out but i eventually got it. Now with everything nice and new it pops in and out with just the 5 screws.
 
Thanks for the responses, following your directions the moldings came out fairly easily without any damage.
