You can replace the early style with the later style but there’s more to it than just the sway bar itself.

As JKen has advised, yes, as an assembly.
You see so few of the early type as the dealers were instructed to replace them if and when the cars came in for service.
Any service parts for the early type were supposed to have been returned to Ford for credit. Thus, NOS parts for the early design are very rare.

You will need to change the perch pins; that's the worst part of the swap.
