1940 Ford Convertible Radiator?

I believe Kube is correct. I would bet bchrismer's non split core radiator was re-cored sometime in the distant past. If it happened in say 1943 due to damage, I am sure it would look like it was original by the time he took possession of the vehicle regardless of the date codes in the glass or whether it was an early or late car. Just my opinion.

If you decide to re-core your existing tanks, as was mentioned, new cores can be installed that look the same, but are more efficient. Have your radiator shop check with Maine Auto Radiator in Lewiston Maine, they mfg original type cores right there in Maine.

Deuce_Roadster, not trying to argue, but I've had 2 of them that were single core, with a top center fill/overflow, both with crank holes, and both marked 91A. Both of them were out of stock '40 Fords.

The split core radiator came out of my stock '40 1/2 ton stake truck. It's got the side fill and a overflow coming out of the top center.

Would leave me to believe that Henry may have had two different style radiators in 1940.

Both of the radiators that were single core looked like the one in this ad, albeit for a '39 deluxe radiator. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166266&highlight=radiator
