1940 deluxe heater

I'm in the process of buying (and will install) an org heater (6 volt) for my car. It hasn't arrived yet.

I'd like to get steel hose for both in and out:

What is the inside dimension - I'm guessing 5/8?
I'm thinking 6 ft for both should be enough - is it?
Anyone do this have a good site to purchase? I was looking at speedway

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about stainless, braided hose?

If so......see the link below! DD

The hose in the link is listed as 306010, or as "-10AN". AN sizes are listed as the number of 16ths in an inch. In this case, 10/16ths, or......5/8" ID. This should be what you're looking for. Click on the details and specs in the ad. DD

If you are going high zoot on the engine, think about which pieces you make shiny... are the heater hoses really a part you want to leap out visually? I've seen that done on MANY streetrods, with heater and AC hoses run right across the top of the engine compartment and done in stainless...it often makes them the most conspicuous part of the engine no matter what lies below.

As previously mentioned, one of the heater hoses is connected to the lower radiator hose on the passenger side. You will need the lower radiator hose/ heater hose nipple, part # 91A-15160 (C&G Ford Parts). You may want to rethink using braided hose for this application.

Vic & rest thanks -

While I have a stock flathead, I do have dual Holly 94s w chrome air filters and chrome alt. I think the stainless, braided hose will look better than the black rubber.

All about personal tastes and asthetics - in my case I chose to hide the heater hoses completely by routing black rubber along the chassis and up the toe board to interior - all out of sight.

brings back memories....when I was in mechanics school....a plumber came up from south florida to learn how to mechanic. had a 51 pontiac (no heater) and decided he was going to install a heater. I saw it; made with nipples, pups, swings, ells....what a mess!
after we saw it, he got some hoses.
