1940 1.5 ton

Hi all; I have several 1 1/2 tonners-Military ww2. The stock brakes are excellent with no great load. Spend your bucks on restoration, and get in all the parades. Newc

Leon,

I just finished a complete brake job on my '47 COE. Joblot had all the parts I needed and I had a great experience working with James. Note that Joblot is refreshingly old fashioned and it works well to call them to place your order.

I was able to get:

- all wheel cylinder rebulid kits
- master cylinder rebuild kit
- all hoses
- all copper washers between the fittings
- replacment brake line bolts for the rear
- brake shoe springs
- brake pedal return springs

The only thing that Joblot didn't have was replacement wheel cylinders. Fortunately, my COE was a driving truck that just needed an overhaul and I reused the cylinders. If you have a bad wheel or master cylinder, there are several companies that will re-sleeve/rebulid your cylinders. Check the services section of Hemmings Motor News or V-8 Times.

I'm fairly certain the '40 brakes are the same as the '47 so this info should be useful. The Joblot catalog uses the Ford part numbers so if you get a copy of the big green Ford chassis parts book, you'll be able to order everything you need by the part number.

Hope this is helpful.

When I redid the brakes on my '40 1 1/2 ton about a year or so ago my local parts house got all the wheel cylinders for me in less than a day.
