I'm trying to find a new or used windshield exterior aluminuim trim piece for my 39 tudor sedan. Any ideas where I can find one, I've search and nothing so far. Will a 40 fit it?
That's the windshield frame. You can on occasion find them on eBay. 1937 through 1939 (any closed model passenger car) will all fit your car. However, there are minute details that make them a tad different from one another. If concourse correct is not your highest priority, then i would suggest searching all three years.
1940 is not an option and will not work in your '39.
The 37 through 39 cars had a full windshield frame so it could be cranked out as one piece with hinges on the top to act for ventilation. The windshield frame has an upper half and a lower half that separate to install the glass. There is also a rubber seal that goes all the way around the outer edge to seal it to the windshield port in the body. Convertible or open cars were the only Ford cars in this time frame that didn't use this design.
I think my '38 Deluxe was originally a chrome windshield frame, but that was in bad shape so I replaced with a painted one I found locally. I see decent ones on eBay and recently sold my old one there. Shipping to NY took half my profit on that deal.
