I am getting ready to repair and refinish the upper valance that covers the wiper motor. The motor that I have has the control switch mounted to the motor and a hole was cut through the valance to provide control of the switch. Should the control switch be mounted through a hole in the valance or was there a vacuum control switch mounted remotely in an other location? TIA

New to the site today , but my 39 pickup has the control knob through the hole in the header mount above the windshield.Hope this is of some help.I also have a question for you or anyone esle that could answer. I am just finshing my 39 FORD pickup and need a couple of photo's of how the seat back mounts. LEON

Mt wiper controls comes thru a hole in the valence.

the back seat cushion has 3 bars and 2 hinges. Thus when the seat is adjusted the back cushion follows. Mine is wrong so I can't send photos. Only recently have I seen the proper back cushion. I have a poor photo if you like. PM me.

My valence has two holes. One hole is where one of the vacuum motor rods allows turning it on (allowing the vacuum line to be open) and the other is a screw type knob that I believe regulates the amount of vacuum to get to the motor. It has been several years since I have used the motor, but that is what I remember. If you want a picture of the valence and the wiper motor, let me know.
