1939 Pickup Motor Identification

My dad recently bought a 1939 truck and one of the things that I am trying to figure out is if the motor is incorrect. According to some information I am finding online, the motor in it could be either a 21- OR 24- stud. Is this correct? Any other tell-tale signs that this is an incorrect or potentially correct motor? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am new to these motors.

Well, it's not a 39 engine, it's earlier. Also, a 39 should be 24 studs. Mid 38 was the switch from 21 to 24 studs.

Looks to be a 21 stud '34 to '36 motor....
