1939 Ford Tudor trunk latch problem

Having trouble with the trunk latch on a 1939 Fird Tudor. The 2 mounting holes on the lip, where the latch protrudes, do not line up. It looks like the area shown in the pic should maybe be flat. The area by the white line looks like it has to be closer to level with the area by the red line. Could someone have a picture of what that area looks like?
