1939 Ford Pickup Windshield Wiper Motor

On my 1939 Ford Pickup, the windshield motor does not work well. Several questions:

1. Does anyone know the correct part number for the unit that should be in there?

2. Where can I get rebuilding kits?

3. If I cannot rebuild it, where can I get a new or rebuilt unit? I can find ones for cars at Mac's but nothing for pickups/

4. Any other ideas to fix the problem.

Thanks. Doug9805

I took mine apart carefully noting how each part went by making a drawing, a Photo would work also to get it back together right. I cleaned it all up then put vaseline in & on everything movable installed a new hose 7 years ago still works perfectly. Worth a try

Did you try putting the motor is a pail with ATF? move it so it sucks in some of the ATF. Let it sit overnight. Work it by hand several times. Then try it the STF will not hurt the engine. ATF will soften the seals and clean out any junk

A lot of the time, the reason they don't work is because the "paddle" inside has dried up and will not hold a vacuum. Before taking it apart, try this:

Get some regular (dot 3 0r 4) brake fluid and put it into a can. Get the engine end of the rubber hose going to the wiper motor and put it into the can of brake fluid. Then work the wipers manually up and down about 10-15 times (Its good to have a helper when doing this). This should suck up the brake fluid into the wiper motor. Let it stand about 24 hours. Then try them. Hopefully, this will work if the trouble is a dried out "paddle". If they work better but not real good, repeat the procedure.

Some guys use auto trans fluid. Be sure to put a rag under the motor to prevent any possible drips on the rug. In running the car, you may get some smoke out the tailpipe - this will clear up.
