#1 - Is there a specific name for the panels located between the lower grill sides and front fenders? Does anyone offer them?

#2 - Is this large hole in the firewall a factory (or factory option) hole? If not or if so, any idea of what may have went here? There is a heater in the truck but it is in the center of the cab.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It looks like a hole for the manifold hot air heater. (You are talking about the round hole under the battery box, correct?

I would agree with Lawson on the hole under the battery box . my 39 does not have it though . I have always called those two parts the GRILL CHIN. tough two parts to find in any condition ,,,always seem to be banged up . you see the guys on eGay selling the big truck ones, as pic up parts. ,,,but the don,t have the notches for the bumper irons to come through. and are much bigger at the very bottom. re Question 1.

I don't know if there is a "real" name for them, we call them "front fender to grille extensions". We make them in fiberglass for the 1/2 ton only.

Note that the fit to the fender is a little unusual, the fender does not mount flush with the extension, there is about a 1/4" step down to the fender.

The 3/4+ ton ones have a little more meat between the grille and the ground, the easy way to tell is the 1/2 ton uses one bolt below the grille, 3/4+ two.

Correct. The large hole under the battery box. The truck has a heater that sits under the center of the dash. Would this have been a second heater or just a different one/version?

I'll have him look at some fiberglass ones. Thanks for the link and info!

The hole in the firewall looks like it was for a manifold heater.
The fender parts are called fender aprons I think. G.M.
