These two pieces of wood aren't cheap.... Does anyone have templates for these? I have most of the old ones.... I think. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have the old ones and access to a band saw, then all you need is the fresh hardwood, right? :)

Pretty much. That's why I need templates. The problem being that the ones I have left, have rotted away for the most part.

I have the old set from my 39 you can have them ,,,I wish you had your city or state listed ,maybe it would not be that much to ship :)

oh yea thats right ? not the same ?? what was the outcome of that thread they are different? that weird the cabs are so much alike ,,,,but different , these have rot here an there but there is enough I think to make templates from .. I thought you figured out you had 40 truck wood ? mp

I just finished modifying my wood that I purchased (which was not cheap). The catalog number stated it was for a 1939 Ford Pickup, but I had to make several modications to make them work. The front part was not high enough so I added a 3/8 in thick piece to the front part (past the bend) and about 2 feet long which had to be tapered. I added a piece to a slot that was on the new pieces, but my old ones did not have this slot. The new wood also had two raised pieces that I had to cut off to make it like the original. Probably the scariest task was cutting an angled groove in the new wood to accomodate the cab bottom. I used a router for that. My original pieces also had what I called reinforced rubber where each bolt went through the cab, frame, and were attached to the bottom of the wood with tacks. The rubber was about 2 inches long, the width of the wood, and about 1/4" thick. When I asked about that from two different suppliers, they were not aware of any such piece of rubber. I just finished bolting up my two pieces, and now I can move on to something else.

Sometime in mid 39 cab wood changed (not sure why) So like mine 38 wood used up until gone. It's another Ford folklore, whoever know's the answer win's the prize:D

I learned what ever year you have, never assume it has parts from that year. Could be used up parts from 2 previous years, trucks got the leftovers:eek:
