I am doing a 1938 tudor sedan and want to use a 8 or 9" ford under it.
Does anyone know what car would best fit ?
Also looking to hang pinto leafs on the rear.
Will they work and what pound springs would work the best?

57 to 59 9 inch, at 57 1/4 wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface should work ok. The 64-66 Mustang 8 inch, which is the same length is also a possibility.

The Maverick 8 cyl is the shortest ( I think about an inch narrower), next are the ones listed above. There are companies that can make a custom length if you got the bucks. The Granada is about 1 inch or so longer.

Regardless of which you use, you usually have to relocate the spring pads.

On all the ones I have done I used the 67-70 ( 8 inch) Mustang rear. Just finished up a '37 and used the 67 rear with Wheel Vintiques 15X7 wheel with their standard offset. I find the Maverick a little two narrow. The Maverick will cause you to use wheels that are offset to the outside ,so your tires don't rub on the inner fender wells. Using the 67-70 rear end also eliminates having to relocate the spring pads. You will have to slightly egg shape the pin mounting holes towards the outside about 3/16 on each side. It's not enough to cause you any problems.
I also recommend the Chassis Engineering rear spring kit. Easy to install, the springs are correct for the weight of the car. You get an excellent ride with this kit. Unless you are knowledgeable about what spring would be the best for the weight of your car, you might have to change springs several times to get the correct ride. Buy the kit and be done with it. I've used this same combination in six cars from 35-40 and it always works for me.

I used the Chasssis Engineering rear spring kit also, but I had to use the offset holes in the lowering blocks to get the tire centered in the wheel opening. Not a problem.

You should also post your question on HAMB as that is where the people with the information you seek usually reside. You can reach HAMB by clicking on the "Hot Rods and Customs Forum" at this site.

Early Bronco 9'' is 58 '' from outside of drums, and they have the big 51/2'' bolt pattern. TI have them under 2 32s, a 36 and a 40.

The early Bronco has the center section/yoke offset to the right (about 2-2 1/2", I believe). Did this cause any driveshaft problems?
