1937 Ford Oil Leak Advice

Hey Guy's! On my 1937 Ford 85 HP engine I have a small amount of oil on my cotter pin underneath my oil pan. I laid a paper towel under it for about a week but no sign of a puddle. I'm also noticing some oil sweat between the sections where the two pieces come together and spot welded under the oil pan too. Am I starting to see a major oil leak? Is my clutch going to start slipping? Last year I started my engine and ran it for about 5 minutes after a fresh rebuild. I didn't hear any noises which was good but I am now seeing some oil sweat underneath. Anything to worry about? Thanks! Don

I believe if a flathead doen't leak its either broken or out of oil in which case it will be really broken soon. These engines are like a faithful dog, they are just marking territory. I would not be concerned unless you start seeing really large puddles.

BTW the cotter pin keeps the drain hole clear so the lower bell housing doesn't fill with oil.

4 quarts with no filter and 20/40 oil greatly reduces leaks, also provides better oil pressure. G.M.
