1937 Ford luggage rack stainless.

Has anybody got a complete 1937 Ford luggage rack to look at and measure the width of the stainless steel mouldings? The Early Ford V8 Club 37 book shows a picture and describes the different lengths but does not address the width, 1/4"-3/8"-1/2" or whatever. Would be nice to find some good originals but bet I would have better luck with a haystack and some needles. Also still looking for a 37 Ford locking hood ornament,my ad awhile back only produce one response and amazingly from UK,guy had a whole carton of them!

The width is a little over 3/8th (actually 3/8 plus 1/32). It starts to taper about 1 3/4 inch from the ends.

Thank You, at least now I know what I am up against. One guy makes a 7/16" stainless strip with pointed ends but cannot get past a gal that says they sell wholesale only but also says they do not provide spare parts to their dealers? This is an outfit in Indiana. Sure wish I could find originals.

The original post on this was couple months ago and in the meantime I was able to address the stainless moulding issue. I sent 1936 Ford hood side mouldings to Steve Grace of Brightworks Restoration in Mass,he cut them down to the two different lengths and reformed correct spear shape ends and polished themup. Picture shows my completed luggage rack painted single stage black urethane, also shown is correct brackets for coupe and rumble seat cabriolet. Rack would be better suited for rumble seat car or sedans with smaller trunk,to me it was a fun project but a pain in the neck, literally ,dropping it down each time and stretching over it to get into trunk. Definitely form over function.
