1937 ford 3 window

Well I purchased the 3 window I posted about a week ago. Got it in today. Will the vin tell what body style it was or did the use engine numbers in 37? Vin is 183593425. I was also trying to search down previous owners to find the builder. It had a florida title number 130838916. When I googled it it didn’t give me the owners name. I checked the top with a magnet and with the exception of a couple small spots it was all steel. Not to say a steel top couldn’t have been sectioned on. I would love to get to the bottom of this if you guys can help

There should be tag on the drivers’ side of the fire wall showing the model number. I do not think the vin wil help you.

Read all about numbers under the " engine number ... or serial number?" thread currently near the top of the first page of threads on this site. Your VIN is likely the original engine number and it will reveal nothing as to what body type it ended up being installed in.

The number on the title is the motor number of the original engine that was in your car. Information does exist that can tell you approximately when your engine successfully passed engine testing, when the motor number was assigned. No records exist that can tell you where your car was originally assembled or what body style it was.

Some cars have a body ID tag in the engine compartment, on the left side of the dash panel (aka firewall). This tag was stamped with the model number of the vehicle body style and a sequence number. It is my understanding that the body ID tags were only attached to bodies that were assembled by an outside bodybuilder, such as Murray or Briggs. If the original body tag is on your car, and it is unaltered, it will only tell you what body style the vehicle originally was.

With respect, there is no engine number on a 1937 Ford or any other early Ford. The transmission and frame should have matching numbers stamped on them.

BTW This car was built in Denton, NC and I believe was originally sold at the GAA Auction in Greensboro, NC several years ago.

And that number was the engine number. I guess you missed all the discussion to that end.

That serial number on your car (☆18-3593425☆) only contains enough information to describe that your car originally was fitted with the 85 horsepower V8, common in 1937. As far as the previous owners' names go, that will be difficult now-a-days with all of the "Right To Privacy" laws that have been enacted, and possible litigation against anyone violating those laws. On the other posting about this car on the third page is a post on who "built" this car. It is a "one off". I also believe the Minotti bodies were all chopped.
